Our History

Simply Giggle started in the home of Angela Norvold in 2006 as Simply First Preschool and Childcare. With a play based nature philosophy they grew quickly, and added The Cottage (a home center next door to Angela’s home) for infants and toddlers.

In 2012 the Norvold’s purchased The Giggle Factory (an indoor playground). Angela kept the family childcare centers in her home and took the children on many nature and hands on excursions. They enjoyed exploring the river and downtown Hudson. Angela spoke at early childhood conferences and wrote articles on nature and play based learning. Along with having numerous student teachers along the way.

In 2016 it was time to open a larger center near and in The Giggle Factory. The center was built with a home feeling; family style meals, large indoor/outdoor activity area, and classrooms that model homes.
Hudson Giggle has a community Montessori 4k adjacent the center partnered with the Hudson School District. Simply Giggle  Montessori fosters independence, confidence, and learning at the speed of the individual child.

In 2020, the childcare center was moved and classrooms built around the indoor playground (no longer open to the public) .

In April of 2021 Simply Little was formed (across the street from Aldi) a space for our infants and toddlers to explore. All the centers have play based, nature explorations, and developmentally appropriate child lead curriculum.

Hands on learning

We are firm believers in keeping children “unplugged” for as long as possible, AND IT IS VERY POSSIBLE AND NECESSARY.  Children need to learn to control their own emotions, and understand others to socialize, communicate, and enjoy the little things in life BEFORE they begin to use computers/tablets/ and electronics. Play based learning means the environment set up for the children to succeed in learning as a whole, socially, emotionally, and academically.
